Craft never won a design prize. Intent did.

Unpopular take from the French Riviera: the objects crowned at Design Parade Hyères this summer weren't chosen for their finish. They were chosen for a decision made long before anyone touched a material. At Villa Noailles, colour ran like a ribbon through Mallet-Stevens' white modernist rooms, and Tin Ayala's grand-prize "Huacos" won because its intent read instantly, not because it was flawlessly built.

That's the uncomfortable truth every studio knows: a form's fate is sealed in the concept phase. The winners decide meaning, CMF and stance while it's still cheap to change. Deciding intent early isn't a nicety. It's the whole game.

It's why Depix puts its weight on the concept phase for automotive and product studios — visualize, restyle and pressure-test a form, CMF and brand-surface before tooling locks the cost in.
